The Financial Aid Outreach Team at Glendale Community College will be holding virtual financial aid workshops weekly from now through the end of April. These virtual workshops run for two hours and are to help students fill out and complete their FAFSA application. Each attending student will be given about an hour with someone from the Financial Aid Outreach Team to get help in the workshop. This month’s upcoming workshops will be held on Tuesday, February 9 starting at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 11 starting at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 17 starting at 3 p.m., Monday, February 22 starting at 3 p.m., and Wednesday, February 24 starting at 11 a.m. To RSVP, students can go online to the GCC event calendar. After signing up, an email will be sent with the time of the workshop and a link to grant access to the virtual meeting on the day of workshop. The Financial Aid Outreach Team asks students attending the workshop to have a copy of their 2019 tax return and W-2’s on hand for their workshop appointment. If the attending student is a dependent, they also ask them to have their parent’s 2019 tax return and W-2’s as well. More dates for March and April can also be found on the GCC event calendar online.
Vanessa is a lover of all things reading and writing related, but tends to have a soft spot for fiction. She is pursuing a degree in Journalism and hopes to continue on to get a bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing. While spending the majority of her time as a full-time student, she also likes to spend time cooking, baking, practicing photography, camping, reading, and of course, writing. In the future, Vanessa would love to get some writing published, but would also like to have the opportunity to write for a newspaper or become an editor. She hopes this class will not only help her improve her writing techniques, but also show her how to use writing in the real world.
