The video, Curb Hunger: One Container at a Time, sets out to illuminate food insecurity and offer a partial solution.  Food insecurity according to Feed is the “lack of access to sufficient food because of limited financial resources.” An article on the Feed site looked at the food insecure population for 2019 and protected the food insecure population for 2020 and 2021.  The projection for 2021 is significantly larger than 2019 which was the lowest level of food insecurity in over 20 years, according to Feed

A possible partial solution is container gardening. If we grew some of our own vegetables, we could save money and stretch our budgets by using our own vegetables in our meals.  I started my journey with three seedling pepper plants, Jalapeno, Sweet Banana, and Bell peppers, and a tomato plant.

I also explored using seed sheets as a simple way to get seeds in the soil. The seed sheets are a selection of seeds nestled together in a fabric pod. The fabric container is used to hold the potting soil and the seed sheets. They can also customize the seed sheets. Each garden kit comes with instructions and an estimated timeline for when to harvest the vegetables. I invite the video viewers to tune in next time when I explore planting potatoes in a fabric container and using plant food.
